2012 marks 311’s 10^th annual Unity Tour and the band enlists Slightly Stoopid to help celebrate the occasion. This year’s Unity Tour kicks off Sunday, July 8^th in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and wraps up Wednesday, September 5^th in Seattle, Washington. 311 bring their summer tour festivities to the OC on Friday, August 24th when the Unity Tour hits Irvine, California’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

Both 311 and Slightly Stoopid show great enthusiasm for the upcoming tour. 311 vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum commented in a press release, “We're really excited that Slightly Stoopid is on the 2012 Unity Tour. 311 & Slightly Stoopid seems like a perfect outdoor summer party. Can’t wait to see you all at the shows!" Slightly Stoopid’s vocalist/guitarist Miles Doughty shared similar sentiments saying, “We're excited to be on Unity Tour with 311. Going coast to coast, it should be a summer of madness.”

California offers a fitting setting for 311 to perform. Despite originating from Omaha, Nebraska, the band carries a Golden State vibe critics can’t help but notice. For example, Pennsylvania’s publication The Aquarian Weekly wrote the following when previewing Unity Tour’s July 31^st stop in Stroudsburg, PA. “Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania gets a taste of Southern Cali when 311 and Slightly Stoopid bring their sunshine grooves. Sure, 311 is actually from Omaha, but their sound is more Californian than half of California, so it still counts.”

As a band 311 maintains a laidback “we have fun, maybe even a little too much fun” attitude. In fact the name “311” stems from Omaha Police Department‘s code for indecent exposure. If that little fun factoid doesn’t tickle your mythological funny bone, take a deep breath and relax. Know overall 311 maintain values centered around positivity and unity, hence the moniker “Unity Tour.”

Perhaps nothing can credibly hype 311’s Unity Tour better than a glance back at the tour’s first nine years. Throughout the past decade Unity Tour emerged as a mainstay within U.S.’s top drawing summer rock concerts. Reviewing the groups who joined 311 on Unity in the past you can understand why. Slightly Stoopid fills a slot previously given to bands like Korn, Alien Ant Farm, and Hoobastank. Surely Slightly Stoopid and their fan base possess the talent and enthusiasm required to meet the expectations set by the others before them.

Tickets to see 311 and Slightly Stoopid rock Irvine’s Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre Friday, August 24^th remain available through Live Nation.
