With the 2012 Vans Warped Tour making rounds in California starting this Thursday, June 21st we at OC Reloaded will spend the week taking a closer look at a few bands set to rock this year’s Warped Tour Golden State stops. Beginning Thursday, June 21st at Orange County Great Park in Irvine and concluding Wednesday, June 27th at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista Yellowcard will act as a tour guide showing Californians the bliss of Ocean Avenue. Yellowcard helped get the festivities for the 2012 Vans Warped Tour started, playing the tour’s kick-off party back on Thursday, March 29th at Club Nokia located in downtown Los Angeles. While Yellowcard only performed an acoustic set March 29th they still successfully foreshadowed what to expect this June. Club Nokia resembled a sing-along scene when the band started into their big hit from 2004 “Ocean Avenue.” Contrastingly, the Club Nokia audience stood captivated as Yellowcard performed a heartfelt rendition of “Sing for Me.”
If history proves an accurate indicator, Yellowcard’s fans will increase their energy level when the band gets plugged in out on tour. The group played Warped Tour multiple times in the past, successfully drawing large, energetic crowds. At the very least expect arms up in the air and some crowd surfing. Audiences react to Yellowcard in large part thanks to front man Ryan Key who encourages crowds to become vocal and join him in singing. Many within the media recognize Yellowcard for their fun live shows. In fact while previewing the Warped Tour’s Las Vegas stop Wednesday, June 20th Las Vegas Weekly’s Annie Zaleski calls Yellowcard one of five “must-see bands for Warped Tour in Vegas.” She writes “The pop-punk vets were last year’s comeback kids with the release of their first album since 2007, When You’re Through Thinking, Say Yes. Their chugging new song, ‘Always Summer’ foreshadows even greater things.” The 2012 Vans Warped Tour’s five Golden State dates spread from Thursday, June 21st to Wednesday, June 27th with the details as follows. Thursday, June 21st- Orange County Great Park in Irvine Friday, June 22nd- Pomona Fairplex in Pomona Saturday, June 23rd- AT & T Park Lot A in San Francisco Sunday, June 24th- Ventura County Fair in Ventura Wednesday, June 27th- Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Chula Vista Tickets still remain available for all five California stops so make sure to get your tickets ASAP!
