Tradition and the holiday season prove inseparable and in the Los Angeles, CA area the holiday season means KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. This weekend, Saturday, December 10th and Sunday, December 11th KROQ presents their 22nd annual Almost Acoustic Christmas from the sold out Gibson Amphitheatre. The two day event keeps its traditional structure, hosting big name talent the first night and upcoming artists the second night. Oh so familiar names such as Blink 182 and Bush headline day one while bands like The Black Keys and Foster The People will grace the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas stage on Sunday, December 11th.

If you recall jamming out to “Comedown” by Bush or “All the Small Things” by Blink 182 while writing down Reconstructed and The Mark, Tom, and Travis Show on your Christmas wish list, you will more than likely not want to miss night one of KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. Other artists joining Blink 182 and Bush at Gibson Amphitheatre this Saturday includes Chevelle, Incubus, New Found Glory, Social Distortion, 311, and Young The Giant. Eager to share their anticipation for the loaded lineup on night one fans like Jaysen Ilharreguy and Kevin Klein show enthusiasm on the event’s Facebook page. Ilharreguy writes “Can’t wait, won tickets to night one, I am so0o0o excited. 311, Incubus, Bush, S.D., & Young the Giant. WoooT!” Klein posts “I saw 311, Incubus, and Blink 182 earlier this year without knowing I'd be seeing them again. Thankfully they're like my favorite bands it's like a recap of my year”

Notable names besides The Black Keys and Foster The People playing night two includes Grouplove, Cage the Elephant, Death Cab for Cutie, and Jane’s Addiction. Fans only familiar with “Pumped Up Kicks” from Foster The People will quickly learn the band offers a great variety in their musical selection. In his review for Grouplove’s debut album Never Trust a Happy Song Slant Magazine’s Huw Jones calls the local California act “one of 2011’s most genuinely exciting prospects.” Cage the Elephant, Death Cab for Cutie, and Jane’s Addiction all add a nice veteran presence to a night filled with young, hungry acts.

Like last year, both nights of KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas sold out quickly. This means good news for charities Para Los Niños and Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center. You see KROQ does more than just stick “Christmas” into their concert’s name. KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas embodies the giving spirit of the holiday season, sending proceeds from night one and night two ticket sales to Para Los Niños and Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center respectively. Para Los Niños aims to help kids in impoverished areas to better their lives by providing various services. Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center offers a safe after school environment for hundreds of students around the Los Angeles area.

While sold out, you can still win tickets for either night of KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas through KROQ.com. If you’re unsuccessful in gaining admission into Gibson Amphitheatre this weekend, you can still watch the two night concert via webcast at KROQ.com. So pour yourself a glass of eggnog, sit by an open fire, and rejoice in the holiday tradition that is KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas
