The Vegas style pool party Wet Electric returns this fall to Wild Rivers in Irvine, CA Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. Last year the inaugural Wet Electric commemorated Wild Rivers’ status as the premier waterpark in California. This year the pool party serves as a farewell celebration because the waterpark will close their doors for the final time. Wet Electric promoter Steve Thacher commented about the Wild Rivers closing “It’s a real shame. The waterpark is like a landmark here.” Of course if Wild Rivers has to close, there seems no better way to say goodbye than a massive blowout pool party.

Wet Electric wants to ensure the final event at Wild Rivers will due the waterpark’s legacy justice. The event looks to build off last year’s success, getting promoted on Wet Electric’s Facebook page under the description section as “sexier, bigger, and wetter.” With Wet Electric now in its second year Thacher explained an inherit opportunity exists for improvement. The personnel behind the Vegas style pool party reflected back on last year’s event to determine ways to better Wet Electric.

Specific ways Wet Electric will improve include featuring more well-known acts, catering better to the audience’s demographics, and enhancing the VIP ticket experience. Thacher spoke about booking artists “It is hard to get acts during an event’s first year because you lack that credibility, that history but now we can bring in bigger name talent.” This year Wet Electric will feature 25 world class DJs. Names announced so far include DJ Vice, Designer Drugs, Christopher Lawrence, and Robbie Rivera. The Wet Electric staff will continue to announce artists on a daily basis using Twitter (@Wet_Electric) and Facebook.

To guarantee everyone in the crowd enjoys themselves, Wet Electric offers older attendees the convenience to avoid the audience’s younger demographic. On Friday, September 30th anyone 18 or older can get into Wild Rivers for Wet Electric. Attendees at least 21 years of age, who don’t feel like hanging around the younger crowd, can go hangout at a wave pool reserved for individuals 21 and older. On Saturday, October 1st the entire waterpark will go exclusively 21 and older. Friday’s 21 and older wave pool will transform into a VIP only wave pool Saturday.

Overall the Wet Electric staff worked hard to improve this year’s VIP ticket experience. One significant change which will thoroughly better the VIP experience involves the stages setup. Thanks to the new setup the VIP area will offer a better view of the stages. Thacher gives Irvine and their police department a lot of credit for helping to make this happen, saying “The police department and the city have been phenomenal working with us.” VIP tickets cost $115 for a single day pass and $180 for a two day VIP pass. General admission passes cost $45 for Friday, September 30th and $55 for Saturday, October 1st. Thacher touted the VIP tickets as well worth their value pointing out you don’t have to wait in long lines to get admitted into the waterpark and you receive complimentary drinks.

Thacher also showed great enthusiasm for Wet Electric’s partnerships with charities such as Surfrider Foundation and North Star Family Center. Wet Electric partnered with Surfrider Foundation last year too, donating a percentage of the ticket sales to the organization. In addition to raising money for the charities Thacher feels the partnerships prove beneficial because they help make the organizations more visible to the community. For instance, Wet Electric gives their close to 20,000 Facebook and Twitter followers opportunity to familiarize themselves with the partnered charities.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect to Wet Electric this year involves the chance to make some final memories at Wild Rivers. The waterpark remains engrained into childhood memories for many in the Irvine area. Wet Electric gives you one final chance to create new memories, this time as an adult. So get ready to dance and splash around as DJ Vice, Designer Drugs, Christopher Lawrence, Robbie Rivera, and many others provide the jams to the final event at Wild Rivers Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st.
