If you’re looking to have some Fun (www.ournameisfun.com) in California over the next week, you may want to checkout Fun, the band. The group, consisting of former The Format vocalist Nate Ruess, ex-Anathallo instrumentalist Andrew Dost, and Steel Train’s Jack Antonoff, will perform four times in the sunshine state between Sunday, April 17th and Friday, April 22nd. The four show swing kicks off Sunday, April 17th when Fun performs at the Coachella Festival's outdoor stage at 2:15PM. From there Fun will make stops in La Jolla on Wednesday, April 20th, Pomona on Thursday, April 21st, and San Francisco on Friday, April 22nd.

For pop music fans Fun could potentially steal the show at the three-day Coachella Festival, which includes big names such as Duran Duran, Kings of Leon, and Kanye West. Fun maintains a laidback sound to their music which translates to an enjoyable mellow concert atmosphere, a vibe likely to standout at Coachella. The easy going vibe will only become more pleasurable when fun performs in more intimate venues later in the week.

Porter’s Pub at UC San Diego hosts Fun on Wednesday, April 20th in La Jolla. The Glass House in Ponoma will house Fun and their fans Thursday, April 21st. Clift Hotel in San Francisco will closeout Fun’s four tour date swing of California on Friday, April 22nd. If you’re a Fun fanatic, you will want to make sure you attend one of these concerts as the shows mark Fun’s last performances before the group takes a one month touring hiatus. During this downtime the band members will head to the studio to work on their follow up album to their debut AIM AND IGNITE.

Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost, and Jack Antonoff picked a very fitting name when they decided to call themselves Fun. Everything about the band happens so effortlessly, just like the way good old fashion Fun happens. Ruess dialed up Dost the day after bitter tensions broke up The Format. Ruess came to respect Dost’s musical skills back when Anathallo toured with The Format. Ruess shares his thoughts about Dost on the group’s official website, www.ournameisfun.com, saying “I always thought Andrew was unbelievable. He can play anything.” Dost, who reciprocates with his admiration for Ruess’s abilities, jumped at the opportunity to work together. Ruess brought Antonoff, another musician he met while touring with The Format, into the fold to establish Fun’s core.

On the band’s official website Dost talks about the chemistry Fun band members share together, “It’s just this triad of different skills, different ideas that happen to blend together in a really great way.” Ruess remarks about his band mates “There’s nowhere I’d rather be than making music with these guys. Even on a personal level, as friends, it feels right.” When a group enjoys making music as much as Fun does, the joy tends to become infectious in a live environment. No matter which concert date you plan to attend, Fun’s melodic instrumentals along with Ruess’s soothing vocals will leave you entertained.
