The Paid Dues Independent Hip Hop Festival of 2011 not only guarantees amazing performances by headlining performers in the Hip Hop industry but also lets event attendees positively contribute to their community with festival producers Murs (Living Legends) and Guerilla Union (Rock the Bells, Cypress Hill SmokeOut) donating proceeds from the event to local Habitat for Humanity projects. Combining stellar live performances from stars like Mos Def and Talib Kweli with a chance to positively impact the community is the perfect reason that no one has an excuse to miss out on this year’s Paid Dues Festival.

Last year marked the 5th anniversary of the Paid Dues Festival and was an amazing event that floored event goers; the sold out crowd got to experience performances from well-known and celebrated Hip Hop artists such as Ice Cube, Murs and 9th Wonder, Tha Dogg Pound, Dilated Peoples and reunited special guests, Freestyle Fellowship. This year’s event is going to be held at the NOS Events Center in San Bernadino, CA on April 2nd and promises to blow away past festivals by expanding the event to include 3 huge performance stages and over 40 live performances from hip hop artists from all over the country.

Interested fans can check out the many promotional videos Murs has released over the past few months to create buzz for the festival. With Paid Dues as his creation, Murs is proud to see what the festival has turned into in terms of an outstanding Hip Hop performance event as well as a community support and outreach project. He proudly points to the amazing and well-renowned artists, such as E-40, The Black Hippy collective, and many more spectacular artists featured this year alone that continue to want to be a part of the festival year after year and help to make Paid Dues into the success that it has become.

With the artist list released in January of 2011, Paid Dues fans had something to get really excited about. This year’s not-to-be-missed performances include a Black Star Reunion show from the indie hip hop team Mos Def and Talib Kweli as well as Immortal Technique scheduled to perform on the Paid Dues Stage. E-40 will be performing on the same stage as festival creator/producer Murs, who will be ending his “Road to Paid Dues Tour” with one last performance on the Dues Paid Stage (which will only feature artists from the West coast). Additionally, Slaughterhouse and DJ Muggs are scheduled to perform on the brand new third stage set up for this all-out, all-day Hip Hop phenomenon, the Grindtime Now Stage.

Additional performers lined up for this year’s event include Andre Nickatina, Bun B, Sage Francis, P.O.S. Nipsey Hu$$le, Dead Prez, Vionaries and many more. A new addition to the festival for this year will be the featured MC Battles located on the Grindtime Now Stage in the Paid Dues Octagaonal Ring, presented by Grind Time Now.

Eager fans can purchase tickets to the festival in advance by calling (877) 435-0849, or from authorized retailers around the area, as well as from online ticket agents. A link to purchase tickets online is located on the www.PaidDuesFestival.com site (which warns fans to make sure they are purchasing tickets from authorized retailers such as Mileage in Pacific Beach, Store 13 in Pasadena, the Attic in San Diego and more - the full list is available online - and ticket agents such as Ticketfly.com to avoid getting scammed). General admission ticket prices are $48. Festival attendees can also purchase a VIP pass for $148; the VIP pass includes artist meet and greats; a 2011 Paid Dues Festival t-shirt, backpack and poster; two drink tickets; red carpet entry and entry to the VIP party; plus additional amenities.

Anyone looking for more information about the venue and the festival itself should check out the Paid Dues website. Interested persons can also learn more about the amazing work that Paid Dues has done with the Habitat for Humanity Chapter of the Greater Los Angeles area, including pictures of the artists and builders who helped out this year as well as more information about how to get involved in Murs’ and Guerilla Unions joint effort to building a stronger community.
