House of Blues (HOB) Anaheim will celebrate their 10th anniversary throughout the month of January with a 13 show concert series. Over the past 10 years HOB Anaheim has hosted a plethora of music fans with 1000s of concerts ranging in genres, from alternative and classic rock to punk and metal. The 10 Year Anniversary Series will resemble this musical diversity with the series’ talent. Headliners for the concert series include Social Distortion, Sepultara, Dashboard Confessional, Willie Nelson, Styx, The Wailers. RX Bandits, Motorhead, Reel Big Fish, Underoath, Amos Lee, Lit, and Strung Out. A number of these shows (Sepultura, Styx, The Wailers, RX Bandits, Reel Big Fish, and Lit) will be presented by San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino.

With so many big names, such as Social Distortion, Dashboard Confessional, Willie Nelson, Styx, and Motorhead, January should prove to be a very special month for House of Blues Anaheim. The venue is small enough to offer an intimate setting while also large enough to give off the big concert feel. In fact, HOB Anaheim has on a number of occasions been named by Reader’s Choice the “best live music venue.” The concert hall portion of the House of Blues has two levels. The downstairs consists of a general admissions floor with bars on both the right and left hand side of the floor. The upstairs, which also contains a bar, is furnished with stools in case you want to sit and enjoy shows from a distance.

Social Distortion headlined the House of Blues Anaheim’s first concert 10 years ago on Friday, January 12th, 2001 and will kick off the 10 Year Anniversary Series 10 years later on the same date. The 10 Year Anniversary Series kickoff show will mark the 70th time Social Distortion will headline the stage at House of Blues Anaheim. With so many shows played in the past, you are practically guaranteed Social Distortion will know how to manipulate the sold out HOB crowd in order to provide a memorable concert. If you don’t have tickets to the show, you will want to try and win them by joining the KROQ street team because the concert will be a “can’t miss” event.

Willie Nelson, who will perform on the House of Blues stage a week after Social Distortion, on Wednesday, January 19th, seems the perfect fit to help HOB Anaheim celebrate their 10 year anniversary as Nelson has celebrated a number of decades in the music industry himself. Willie Nelson has been active in the music business for over five decades now, starting in the 1960s. Longevity risks growing stale but live crowds show with their enthusiasms that they are still into Willie Nelson as if it was the late 1970s. Tickets for the Willie Nelson HOB date are $62.50 in advance and $65.00 the day of show. Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real will also play on January 19th.

On Tuesday, January 25th the volume will be switched up at the House of Blues Anaheim when Motorhead headlines the stage. Between Motorhead’s fast tempo instrumentals and front man Lemmy Kilminster’s notorious vocals, the floor below the stage will more than likely see a fair share of moshing. For metal maniacs the concert should be memorable solely for the opportunity to see Kilminster, a certified metal legend, perform in such an intimate setting. Valient Thorr will have the honor to open for Motorhead on the 25th. Tickets for the concert will run you $27.50 in advance and $32.50 the day of show, excellent prices considering you will be seeing MOTORHEAD!

While the big names, like Willie Nelson and Motorhead, will understandably garner the most attention, the House of Blues Anaheim 10 Year Anniversary Series schedule contains a number of other shows worth mentioning. Amongst these shows is Underoath on Thursday, January 27th. The members of Underoath play their music with such intensity you can’t help but enjoy watching them onstage. Other bands also scheduled to play on the 27th includes Thursday, A Skylit Drive, and Animals as Leaders. Admissions to get into the Underoath headlined concert will cost $20.00 in advance and $22.50 the day of show.
