The holiday season often brings merriment and joy, two feelings which will spread through the Nokia Theater Sunday, December 5th at KISS FM’s annual Jingle Ball concert. The 11th annual Jingle Ball concert features a loaded lineup, including music superstars Katy Perry, Enrique Inglesias, Nelly, and B.o.B. Travis McCoy, Taio Cruz, Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars, and Far East Movement round out the Jingle Ball lineup.
Katy Perry is no stranger to the annual Jingle Ball event. She played at the annual concert in 2008, a pivotal year for her music career. Previously, Perry had spent a number of years trying to make a name for herself in Christian music under the alias Katy Hudson. After signing with record label Capitol, the singer redirected her focus to pop music, dropping the Hudson name in favor of Perry. Her first single as a pop artist, “UR So Gay,” garnered her some attention. However, it was “I Kissed a Girl” which launched Perry’s career to the next level. As a performer Perry is entertaining to watch because of her eccentric personality. Perry’s unique fashion style combined with her use of facial expressions make her fun to watch live. Enrique Inglesias proves equally as fun, if not more fun, to watch live in concert. Inglesias’ music library contains many hit songs which leave audiences screaming with their arms up in the air. Inglesias shows just as much excitement as his crowds, running up, down, and all around the stage. Additionally, he gets as close as he can to his fans, as if he was playing in a small bar rather than a large venue. In general, Inglesias seems like a hard working, standup guy. As the son of famous vocalist Julio Inglesias, Enrique could have easily relied on his last name when entering the music industry. Instead, he sent out demo tapes under the pseudonym Enrique Martinez to ensure he received his first record deal because of his talent. B.o.B, another notable Jingle Ball performer, should be in festive spirits as the year winds down. B.o.B enjoyed a groundbreaking 12 months, having three singles, “Nothin’ on You” featuring Bruno Mars, “Magic” featuring Rivers Cuomo, and “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams, land within the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. “Airplanes” achieved monumental success, spending 36 weeks on the chart, peaking in the second spot. A performance of “Airplanes” at Jingle Ball is inevitable as Hayley Williams will be at the event as B.o.B’s special guest. Tickets for KISS FM’s Jingle Ball sold out shortly after going on sale, a testament to the talent playing the event. While you can no longer purchase tickets, several opportunities to win tickets still exist. Ryan Seacrest is giving tickets away every morning through December 3rd. Tickets will also be given away throughout the day and also through Internet and text contests. With a star-studded Jingle Ball lineup, you will regret not attempting to win tickets. For people who purchased tickets, the concert should provide holiday festivities to remember for years to come. |
