Since the inception in 2001, the Honda Civic Tour has become one of the hottest tickets on the music scene. Artists such as Blink 182, The Black Eyed Peas, New Found Glory, and Maroon 5 have all headlined the Honda Civic Tour. This year Honda has kept with the tour’s theme of high profile headliners with Paramore. Paramore, along with New Found Glory, Kadawatha, and Tegan and Sara, have been rocking across the country since the end of July. Paramore and their supporting acts will make their final stop on the Honda Civic Tour Sunday, September 19th at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. Honda and this year’s musicians have created at least five good reasons for why the Honda Civic Tour’s finale in Anaheim will be a can’t miss event.

Five- Support the Green Cause

For the past four years, proceeds from the Honda Civic Tour ticket sales have been used to create a more eco-friendly environment. In fact, Paramore’s lead singer Hayley Williams showed much enthusiasm for headlining the 2010 Honda Civic Tour, saying in a press release, “We’re so stoked to be a part of the 2010 Honda Civic Tour… We’re looking forward to rocking out GREEN with you this summer.” Honda definitely has made being environment friendly easier and funnier than ever before.

Four- Witness Greatness

It is no stretch of the imagination to call the 2010 Honda Civic Tour headliner Paramore or former Honda Civic Tour headliner and 2010 Honda Civic Tour supporting act New Found Glory great. Paramore’s path to greatness began back in 2007 with the group’s sophomore record, Riot! Riot! contains “Misery Business,” “Crush Crush Crush,” and “That’s What You Get,” all of which spent time on the Billboard charts. “Misery Business” spent 30 weeks on the Billboard charts, topping off at 26. “Crush Crush Crush” enjoyed 34 weeks on the Billboard charts, peaking at a ranking of 54. “That’s What You Get” peaked at 66 during the single’s 17 week stay on the Billboard charts. The success of Riot! even earned Paramore a Grammy nomination for “Best New Artist.”

Riot! proved to be only a foreshadowing of the success to come for Paramore. The band’s newest album, Brand New Eyes, debuted on the Billboard Charts ranking second. Alternative Press, The New York Times, and SPIN Magazine were amongst the media praising Brand New Eyes. Singles “Ignorance” and “Brick by Boring Brick” both became top ten modern rock songs. At the 2010 Teen Choice Awards Paramore won awards for “Choice Rock Album” (Brand New Eyes), “Choice Rock Track” (“Ignorance”), and “Choice Rock Group.” Additionally, Paramore won the 2010 People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Rock Band.”

New Found Glory has equally as impressive accomplishments. The band’s resume includes three records that have gone gold. New Found Glory albums, Sticks and Stones and Catalyst, debuted on the Billboard charts within the chart’s top five albums. Furthermore, New Found Glory has been very influential for many artists. Even Paramore cites New Found Glory as one of their musical influences.

Three- Encourage Creative Musicians

The lineup of the 2010 Honda Civic Tour contains musicians who thrive with creativity. Paramore’s creativity is evident in the Civic Si the group designed. Customizing a Honda Civic is an annual Honda Civic Tour tradition for the tour’s headliner. Paramore’s Civic Si resembles the color of their lead singer’s hair and contains black decals all over the automobile.

Supporting acts Kadawatha and Tegan and Sara have demonstrated creativity in their music. Kadawatha, which started as the solo project of Sir Lankian Daniel Kadawatha before evolving into a five piece band, offers a unique concept with their music. Kadawatha’s music is similar to fiction in that the music tells the stories of characters developed by Kadawatha. The creativity of Tegan and Sara can be seen in the group’s latest album, Sainthood, which focuses on secular themes of romance.

Two- Discover Family Ties

Attending the Honda Civic Tour will allow you to experience Tegan and Sara, a pair of sisters from Canada. Tegan and Sara, while less popular than Paramore and New Found Glory in the States, are no strangers to the limelight. The sisters have made a number of appearances on late night television, including appearances on The Late Show with Dave Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 2004 Rolling Stone named Tegan and Sara’s album So Jealous one of the best of the year. The following year, the Grammy award winning White Stripes did a cover of Tegan and Sara’s “Walking with a Ghost.”

In their homeland of Canada, Tegan and Sara have received nominations for the Juno Awards, which are similar to the Grammy Awards. Juno Award nominations the sisters have received include three “Alternative Album of the Year” nominations for 2005’s So Jealous, 2007’s The Con, and 2009’s Sainthood. Additionally, Tegan and Sara earned a Juno nomination for “Music DVD of the Year” with 2006’s It’s Not Fun Don’t Do It.

One- Experience Paramore Live

As Paramore showed earlier this year in Irvine, CA at the KROQ Weenie Roast, the group puts on lively and energetic concerts. In regards to instrumentals, Paramore sounds as crisp live as they do on their albums. Williams is a prime example of an ideal lead singer. She shows so much spunk on stage, the energy becomes contagious with crowds. Also, Williams knows how to get the crowd involved, albeit having the crowd sing along to the chorus of her songs or drawing her audience in with her comments between songs.

Overall, Paramore, New Found Glory, Kadawatha, and Tegan and Sara should make Sunday, September 19th a memorable night of live music. Tickets for the event can still be purchased at http://civictour.honda.com/tickets/.
