Imagine chilling at California’s premier water park, without the menace of screaming kids and immature teenagers, taking in the last of the summer’s sun, listening to some of the most prolific DJs, and enjoying the feel of a nice cold beer on your lips. That could be the scene for you on Saturday, September 25th at Wild Rivers Water Park, when the park is transformed into 21 years old and over water club, featuring 10 plus DJs and over 20 water rides and attractions. The event, being dubbed “Wet Electric,” will be celebrating Wild Rivers’ status as the number one water park in California for 25 years in a row, as voted by CNN. Wet Electric will also be celebrating Wild Rivers’ excellent safety record over the years.

The event will be co-headlined by DJs Klaas and Cedric Gervais. So many DJs have been lined up for Wet Electric that one stage will not be able to contain them all. Klaas, an international DJ sensation from Germany, will be headlining the Lazy River Stage. Klaas began his music career on the Cologne club scene in the 1990s. Currently Klaas is signed to the indie label Scream & Shout. Klaas’ newest single is entitled “It’s My Day.”

Cedric Gervais will be headlining the other stage, Tsunami. Gervais is perhaps best known on the Miami scene, although Gervais’ undeniable success has pretty much made him a household name in the house music scene. Gervais has worked with several artists, including Lenny Kravitz, Steve Lawler, and Rachel Starr. Gervais has two record labels, Sleaze Records which focuses on house music and SleazeTech which concentrates on techno and minimal artists.

Tickets for Wet Electric can be purchased online at www.wet-electric.com/ocfun. General admission tickets can be purchased at the discounted price of $45 during a special pre-sale period. General admission tickets regularly cost $75. For $125 you can receive the VIP ticket package. The VIP tickets include separate entrance into Wet Electric, a fast pass to the front of lines, and access to the VIP area along with complimentary beverages.

If 20 plus water rides and attractions, a crowd without kids or teenagers, and two stages of DJs headlined by Klaas and Cedric Gervais isn’t enough to convince you that Wet Electric will be a can’t miss event, perhaps the fact that the event will benefit a good cause could change your mind. The majority of the money made from the event will be going to Surfrider Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to clean water. Funds raised from Wet Electric will benefit Surfrider Foundation campaigns “Rise Above Plastics,” and “Know Your H20.”

“Rise Above Plastics” aims to better aquatic environments through encouraging people to reduce the amount of plastic they use. According to Surfrider Foundation, the excess use of plastic is responsible for 100,000 marine animal deaths annually. The “Rise Above Plastics” campaign asks people to pledge to change their behaviors in order to decrease the amount of plastic released into aquatic environments. These behavioral changes include reusing plastic bottles, using cloth bags at the grocery store, and recycling.

The “Know Your H20” campaign creates awareness of flaws in our current water management system. The Cycle of Insanity: The Real Story of Water, a short film suggesting solutions to current water management problems, is the centerpiece of the “Know Your H20” campaign. The film offers solutions to subjects like pollution prevention and energy conservation.

Overall, Wet Electric should be an event to look back on for years to come. The event kicks off the morning of September 25th at 10:30am and goes all day long. DJs Scotty Boy, Jason Bentley, Andy Caldwell, The Riddler, Sandra Collins, Serge Devant, Morgan Page, and Max Graham will provide the soundtrack throughout the day until the headliners take their respective stages. The next day you’ll likely wake up still tired from all the fun from the day before. Perhaps, more importantly you’ll feel accomplished knowing that Saturday’s fun helped support Surfrider Foundation.
