The Scream It Like You Mean it tour is up for its second round and this year it’s a no-holds bar.  The lineup features Breathe Carolina, Chiodos, The Air I Breathe, I See Stars, The Color Morale and Mod Sun. The month long tour is taking the US and Canada for a seriously entertaining ride.

Breathe Carolina are the only band on tour that intertwines electronic and hardcore.

“Electronic Rock” or “Crunkcore” drips with dance music and just enough screaming to head this band into the “hardcore” genre. Their trance induced hardcore could be unexpected for someone who has never heard their music, but they marry the two beautifully.  There was a dub step intro for the beginning of their set which featured “Wooly,” and “Hello Fascination.”

The boys from Breathe Carolina are far from coy; there interaction with their fans has them doing some dangerous stuff.

Throughout their show you could tell that there was a ton of love for their fans. Singer, Kyle Even put his safety at risk diving into a ravenous crowd of adoring fans. After getting his feet on the ground, he stayed with the crowd and sang the rest of the song.

Besides seeing hardcore kids getting down to techno beats, I got to witness every one of them sing their cover of Jay Sean’s “Down,” it was dumbfounding. “Idgaf,” was one of their last songs and I’ve never been flipped off by so many people in my life. Breathe Carolina doesn’t hold back, they give there all in their performances and it’s easy to see why their fan base is so huge. The roof was threatened to be raised from all the people jumping.

Even for someone who doesn’t listen to their music this performance alone could have you rushing to their merch stand.

Since the ambiguous firing of original singer, Craig Owens, Chiodos have continued to make music, and good music at that. This band has heart, you can tell by the guitarist, Pat McManaman’s limp. Due to his leg cast he had to hop around stage and it didn’t stop him from rocking out on one foot. Chiodos started with “Notes in Contellations.” In the middle of the set a buddy of the band came out with a heaping scoop of ice cream and a single candle lit for singer, Brandon Bolmer. Getting love from his fans, they sang “Happy Birthday” (It was my favorite song of the night.)

While chatting with the crowd Bolmer grabbed an iPhone from a fan that was recording the show and decided to be director for a minute. Yes, it’s on You Tube.

For the end of their set Kyle Even came out to help Bolmer out on vocals for “Baby, you Wouldn’t Last a Minute on the Creek.” The crowd surfing at this point got so severe the security started kicking people out as they stumbled over the barricades.
This post hardcore band, I See Stars brought the excitement from a dull roar to a screaming maniac, and frankly they got the crowd warmed up for the rest of the night. They encouraged the audience to crowd surf and mosh. This task was an easy one since they played “The Common Hours,” “3-D,” and a cover of The Outfield’s “Your Love.”

This tour looks like a success guys, get ready for next year.
