With an estimated 14,000 people in attendance lightning in a bottle festival in Irvine was a bit crazy. Friday we played it safe and just went for a couple of hours to check things out and here are some pictures from the day. We will be there again all weekend to catch all action!

Earlier this week we had a chance to catch up with one of the founders of the event, Dede Flemming whom shared with us how the event started, 2000 Dede and his brothers planned a weekend celebration for friends and family. Over the past decade the small private gathering evolved into a public festival with 7000 plus people attending last year. Despite the massive growth Lightning in a Bottle continues to feature the special community vibe.

To read our preview and interview with flemming check out Catch Lightning in a Bottle Memorial Day Weekend.

We will be at the event throughout the weekend, enjoy these pictures for now from Friday.
