Thanks to our friends at lushbeat.com, we are able to post this editorial with pictures. For more pictures from the event click here. My personal opinion on the first day of Bamboozle ,was, it was good, not great. Could have been better, but could have been a lot worse also. Day two however, confused us all. Immediately you could tell the demographic promoters were going for in day two was the under 18 teen girl crowd. With groups like All The Day Holiday, Never Say Never, and Something Corporate to name a few. What threw me off was the main stage lineup. Story of the Year, which would have fit better with Saturday’s lineup along with Hey Monday, The Maine, and The Summer Set. The Summer Set came out in full force, even though the lead singer, Brian Dales had crutches because of jumping off the stage of an earlier show. However, that wouldn’t have stopped them from partying this Sunday. Brian explained “I don’t give a fuck if I am crippled, you guys aren’t”. Their set list included “Punch-Drunk Love”, “Girls Freak Me Out”, and “Young” Throughout the set Brian would try and get the crowd excited, but not much was going on. When Hey Monday came on, Cassadee Pope had the same theme going on. Throughout her set it was “You guys awake or what!”. It wasn’t that Hey Monday was boring, not at all. In fact, on Saturday they would have had a huge following. I think it was just the parents and kids were waiting for Something Corporate and Never Say Never. When Story Of the Year Came on it was more of the same. However this time the funny dancing people form yesterday were back. Only, this time they were called out with “I want to see a bit fucking mosh pit” – however I don’t think they knew how to “mosh”. Their set included hits like “The Children Sing”, “Until The Day I Die” and “I’m Alive”. When The Maine took the stage, the crowd, still a bit dead, but a lot larger than before to see this band from Arizona. The theme, once again, was the band trying to get the crowd of 15-18 year old girls and their parents to get excited – but not much happening here. The crowd did know a few songs, which singer John O'cal’aghan had help from the crowd to sing, “Girls Do What They Want” and “Into Your Arms”.
Never Shout Never came on the stage was filling up. Still not nearly as many people come out yesterday. A less the memorable performance with one highlight, the cover of Beatles hit song “Across the Universe”, which was, excellent – a bit turnaround from the rest of the set which I don’t recall at all. However I do remember a lot of “don’t dance, don’t scream, just smile” stuff going on. Singer Christofer Drew Ingle’s also had a lot of fans, both from the male population and the females. Something Corporate took the stage with a different tone. You could tell this band was happy to be playing for their local fans. There was no ring rust in Soco’s 13+1 set which started off with " I Want to Save You”, “Punk Rock Princess” and “She Paints Me Blue” to get the crowd started before expressing their happiness with “This is quite a homecoming for us” and “This is quite a homecoming for us” which got the crowd of fans screaming before finishing out their set without a hiccup in their energetic set. The encore, which was much appreciated by the crowd was “onstantin”. Other songs by Soco included "I Woke Up in a Car", "Fall" And "Me and the Moon" among others When all I said and done, day two of Bamboozle was just confusing. From the lineups to the crowd, it just didn’t make much sense. Till next time
