Attika's Freakshow Review and Pics

What happens when you take bikers from all over Southern California, throw in a few hot girls with Honda Civic's from Orange County and the historic Galaxy Theatre? Attika’s Freakshow! This event took place Sunday March 1, 2010 and featured some great smaller bands and some large ones!

Starting off, the Wheelchair Bandits went on stage to play to a theater that was only about 1/5th or so full, but they still came out full force to support the audience. Their set list included “Hail Me Down”, “U.I.A”, “Soft Silent”, “Only an Expert” and “For Those Left Standing” – all of which and more can be found on their website or MySpace.

The Wheelchair Bandits seem well put together considering there have few recent changes in its members, the fact that these guys all have full time day jobs and that they  have only been together a short time. Make sure to check out this up and coming group on their MySpace page.

The next band, Kaustic, spent no time setting up and gave a good set from beginning to end, however, I must say when all is said and done – now – a day later... I don’t remember much of these guys.

Then K626... The crowd started to form and people started running to the stage. Who is this band that apparently the biker crowd that surrounded me knew, but I didn’t?

I knew I'd like this K626 right away. Anybody that brings their own supplemental lights to a show means business - and thank god because The Galaxy , while might be a historical place of sorts, still has a historical lighting system that has trouble lighting up the stage and the people on it.
These guys rocked from beginning to end with their hard pounding take no prisoner’s rock music. These guys obviously had a great time on stage, and the crowd and I had a great time watching them.

Commonwealth came off with a little bit of rap mixed with hard rock, which had the crowd excited from the first musical note. With their energy and musical talent The Galaxy was finally seeing a party. If you ever get the chance to see Commonwealth I would jump at that opportunity if I were you. I would describe them somewhere between the Kottonmouth Kings and Linkin Park – two great bands in my opinion! Great show!

SIX, FINALLY I could see them live. I will be honest, this girl at my office has been talking about them forever and that’s sort of what created the hype in my head – but let me just say these guys lived up to it.  It can best be described by what vocalist Lauren Boquette said in an interview regarding one of their albums, “We all grew up on metal, punk, and classic rock. So this time around, we're letting it all come out”.  For now visit their website, but check back in the future for more information on this great band!

When Attika came on it was getting kind of late but their hard rocking style made us forget that real quick. I remember seeing a few people with what could only be described as happily aggressive looks in on their faces running around the theatre right in front of the stage. Attika was very fun to listen to live but I also have added their tunes to my music collection, in my playlist right next to Metallica. I am for sure a new fan.

40 Cycle Hum is a band of four musically talented and lyrically hard metal guys with great hooks and a perfect sound. The entire show got off to a slow start and things were pushed back like one hour, which sucks for the people that left early because they missed a great show. For more information on this band goto their website

All in all i think it was a great show, for cyclists and hard rock music fans alike.
