Musink Day 3 - Finally!

I missed the first few shows, but apparently somebody above was watching out for me, because I was just in time for the Riot "look hotter in real life" Brides. What can I say here to do them justice... I am sure in the beginning the crowd they had was more because they are an all-woman band and not because all of them were fans, but by the end of their set I know they were fans.

There wasn't any wardrobe malfunctions. This time, however, when the girls started demanding the crowd to show their tits, we did see…. man boobs.

By the end of their set I could look into the crowd and it was obvious that they were enjoying themselves. The Riot Brides were a great band to watch – they rock out with c**k out – if I had a term for women that is. Next time I see them it won’t be with a camera – but with a beer! You guys were a lot of fun to watch! Great set!

The Riot Bride's set list included Panic Room, Break Another Bottle, Lost, Freakshow, All I Want is You, Bring You Down, and Nice Girls – most of which you can also find on their Myspace.

Next was Stolen Radio. They had legit music, but with no real lead man I wasn't sure what was going on. This pseudo-rock band included instruments others don't normally include... Digital samplers and keyboards were a cool touch, but not enough to keep me entertained. It is obvious they have musical talent; however their show was lacking and dull. There was no stage presence at all.

Longway in the main room is another one I hadn't heard of before, but they did a great job getting the crowd wild and excited.

With their very aggressive style and playing where's waldo with the guitarist, who one minute is on top of the speaker wall and the next minute in your face center stage, they were a fun band to watch!

Faraway Boys were also very entertaining to watch with their rock n roll sound. Ralphie’s up-right base, Scotty on guitar/vocals, and Bucky on drums, these guys rock from beginning to end with lots of entertainment and stage presence – and a great sound ! This trio that first began on a street corner in Laguna Beach, CA has come a long way and will have a following after this show!

With these guys rocking hard rockabilly style I don’t think they took a breath!

The Black Tibetans were an interesting band to watch. The left side of the stage was running around 500 Miles per second, the right side stood still. My cousin said it best, “I like these guys but I don’t know why”. Their sound was good, it wasn’t great. Their look was ok, their stage presence was interesting. Overall there was something drawing me to the stage though, I didn’t want to look away. And I think the entire audience agrees with me. It was fun – that’s about all i remember.

When Face To Face came on – you knew the party was about to start. All of a sudden Musink is living up to its tattoo punkish name and the “mus” part of Musink.

For Face to Face, the room was full 20 minutes before the show with everybody already screaming and begging for them to come out – in face.

Face To Face started with lesser known songs such as I Won’t Lie Down but soon after their hit song, Disconnected, got the mosh pit going.  Followed by some other great songs such as Blind and Big Choice – songs I haven’t heard but had the crowd screaming along with the band! The set was great and the pit was fun also!

NOFX. This is the reason I came, the reason I would have come regardless of this website, and the reasoni decided to make this website (see my posting on the Front Page).

NOFX always plays a great show. With lots of interaction between the songs and the crowd, they go back and forth making fun of each other -- and that’s quite entertaining. They are the one band that sometimes changes their set list on the fly for fans – as they did today!

They played hit songs like Dinosaurs Will Die, Don’t Call Me White, and Stickin’ In My Eye but also included songs from their new album like My Orphan Year, We Called it America, and The Quitter.

The NOFX pit was huge from the beginning and just got larger – with surprisingly a lot of girls getting in there. From their very first song people were in the pit; crowd surfing, throwing bottles (and a glass one that hit my camera!) , full cups of beer – and generally doing what they do at punk shows – having a good time.

Great day 3 at Musink!
